‘A’ for access.

QParents provides parents of Queensland state school students with secure online access to their child’s educational information. 24/7.

The platform

QParents makes it easy for parents to keep track of what’s happening at the school. Parents can perform common tasks such as:

  • updating child’s details including address and medical conditions
  • submitting reasons for unexplained absences
  • accessing report cards
  • notifying the school of future absences, and
  • making online payments against school invoices.

The responsive website and native apps (iOS and Android) were developed by Readify with user-centred design by Folk.

What we did

User‑research informed  archetypes. These helped create a shared understanding of the user, their needs and pain points.

QParents has been co-designed with parents (from diverse socio‑economic backgrounds and a range of language and literacy levels), teachers and school administrators.

The result is inclusive, accessible and equitable access for all Queensland parents, and increased adoption.

User flows

Working iteratively with DET stakeholders and  development team, Folk created rapid prototypes and user flows to map the journeys.

These were validated with parents.

User research

Folk conducted research to identify easy to understand and natural language phrases, which resulted in an IA which was both intuitive and easy to understand.

Again, this was validated with parents through face to face and online card sorting exercises.

Better educating children by better engaging parents.

From school daze to school days.
