The concept

One border, one way to cross it.

From a complex brief came a simple idea - one border, one way across it, through the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

The integration of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) and the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service on 1 July 2015 was a historical, significant and complex change to the way Australia's border is managed.

The new DIBP brand identity needed to project:

  • strong national security
  • a strong economy and
  • a prosperous and cohesive society.

The brand addressed the Department’s mission: to protect Australia’s border and manage the ​movement of people and goods across it, and provided an authoritative, practical, and meaningful identity.
